(An-Naml: 19)

Everyone has sacrificed something
and gotten something new in return.
Even so, if there is anything
I can always be proud of, it's you.

My Friend has made a huge and very difficult sacrifice for me. I know and I understand it’s very hard for her to be in the situation she’s in. It’s very difficult to abandoned something that you’ve been used to for several years for something that unproven and untested.

Somewhere in life we will be presented with conditions that require us to make decisions. In fact for me, one of the essences in life is about making decisions. We make decisions everyday. The different is whether we are aware of it or not.

If making decision is hard enough, consider a situation where you haven’t made ANY decision, but situation has decided for you. What would you do? You really want to do A things, but in the same time you want to do B things as well. Doing A things will require much more effort than doing B things which is quite simpler and something that you are used to. Anyhow, you have to and can only do one of the things … A things or B things.

As you are wondering with your mind, thinking of what you should do, A or B, B things has been settled by someone … and here you are presented with only A things to do. Seems like quite simple isn’t it? Just do the A things and everything is settled. We don’t have to make any decision any more … or are we?

Making decision is challenging esp. in difficult situations. As challenging as it may become, at some point, we should decide, we should choose. We can’t hang our self around with indecisiveness. It’ll rob our precious time to do other things. We’ll be wasting precious time that has been granted for us by our creator.

In the time like this, don’t we ever underestimate the power of dependableness. When things get murky, when we really don’t know what to do, when we really don’t know what to grab, when we really don’t know how to decide, reach out our hand, find any support that you can find, friends & family … If it’s still hard, we still have the ONE. Only He knows what is good for us. Don’t hesitate to ask for guidance from Allah the almighty. It can be understood when we felt very shy with the ONE esp. after we’re being forgetful for so long (when we’re happy) … and then have to ask for help when we’re in trouble.

It is in the time like this will us aware that how ignorance we are with the NIKMAT that has been given to us. We always mourn with ‘hardship test’ that Allah given us. It is true that ‘hardship test’ is very tough to handle and very tough to get used to … but for me, it is not ‘hardship test’ that push me to the absolute limit, that fails me … It is happiness and smoothness in life that pushed me to absolute limit, fails me … fails me miserably.

I always asked myself, how on earth can I know that I have to choose certain condition, after asking Allah for guidance? I believe in miracle, but for me, we must work our way in most of our business here in the world, even for miracle to happened, we’ve to work our way there. Therefore, for me, I will choose situation where it comply or closest to comply with the teaching of Addeen-al-Islam – the way of life that has been blessed to us by Allah. I’m not absolutely sure whether this is the best solution, but for me, it gives me highest level of calmness and happiness. Even if I happened to made wrong decision, at least I’ve gain something more valuable … something priceless … InsyaAllah.

Imam al-Ghazali rahimahullah once said;

“Kebahagiaan dan kenikmatan sebenar di dalam hidup adalah apabila kita dapat mengingati Allah setiap masa”
